HENDERSONVILLE, โขN.C. – Henderson County’s Recovery Court program has achieved a important milestone with its first graduate, marking a positive step in addressing the region’s substance use challenges. โThe program, โขfunded by $17 millionโค from a state lawsuit settlement with opioidโฃ manufacturers and distributors, offers โฃa โฃdiversion program for individuals seekingโฃ recovery from addiction.
The program’s benefits extend beyond the individual participants, positively impacting the community, โaccording to programโฃ officials. “Those folks that ordinarily would be cycling in and out of jails and prisons โare actually working, โฃpaying taxes, paying child support, payingโข restitution fees, โno longerโ (Department ofโค Social Services)-involved, because they’re getting โคtheir kids back,” said grabowski, a โขprogram representative. She โalsoโค highlighted the ripple effect of โคrecovery, noting that it often extends to spouses and family โขmembers.
