New Britain, Connecticut – Karla García, a Puerto Rican mother accused of murdering her daughter Jacqueline, sent a message to a neighbor stating, “I did not put my daughter in that container, nor did I throw her away like garbage… I am in mourning,” shortly after the child’s body was discovered. The message is now a key piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation, according to kimberly White, the neighbor who received it.
García and her partner face murder charges, while García’s aunt has been accused of child cruelty. The case has sparked outrage in both the Puerto Rican diaspora and Puerto rico, with calls for justice for the young victim.
White, who had known García since April, described her as “energetic and always in a good mood” and expressed shock at the allegations. The two women connected through thier children, who frequently played together, and García had even babysat White’s son on several occasions.
