Jayden Stone Suffers Injury, Expected to Miss Multiple weeks for Missouri Basketball
Columbia, Mo. – Missouri Tigers guard Jayden Stone sustained an injury during Thursday’s game against Milwaukee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, head coach Dennis Gates confirmed Monday. The injury occurred during the first half of the 78-68 victory.
The loss of Stone further strains an already thin Missouri roster grappling with injuries and illnesses. While the specific nature of Stone’s injury hasn’t been disclosed, his absence adds to the challenges facing the Tigers as they navigate a demanding early-season schedule. Stone’s scoring and perimeter shooting will be notably missed.
Mizzou was recently able to return small forward Annor Boateng from the sideline, but remains without several key players. Starting combo forward Trent Pierce has yet to play this season and has not participated in practice, according to gates. Seven-foot-five center Trent Burns is recovering from offseason foot surgery and is expected back in the coming weeks, tho a firm return date is still undetermined. Center Shawn Phillips Jr. recently missed a game due to illness and is not expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
Without Stone, Missouri may rely more heavily on guards Sebastian Mack and T.O. Barrett to fill minutes at the shooting guard position.
The Tigers face South Carolina State tuesday night at Mizzou Arena, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and streaming on SEC network+.
