The likelihood of a grand coalition formed by five Indonesian political parties for the 2024 presidential election is fading after the ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) formally announced Ganjar Pranowo as a firm candidate. While politicians across parties have publicly voiced support for Ganjar, Prabowo Subianto and his Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) are the engine for the grand coalition, which will also involve the Golkar Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the National Mandate Party (PAN), and the National Awakening Party (PKB). However, political analysts suggest that the division between the two candidates is likely to make the five-party coalition elusive. While the PDI-P controls more seats in the House of Representatives than any other party and will never back down on Ganjar’s candidacy, recent polls indicate that Ganjar and Prabowo are on the razor-thin margin of support, meaning that the latter remains a candidate with a promising prospect. Prabowo may agree to abandon his presidential ambition and allow the PDI-P to join the grand coalition with Ganjar becoming the candidate, according to Yunarto Wijaya, the executive director of political research firm Charta Politika.

CNN Indonesia
Sunday, 02 Apr 2023 14:35 WIB
Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
President Joko Widodo still reluctant to reveal when it will do reshuffle cabinet.
Jokowi asked members of the mass media to be patient. He didn’t want to confirm whether reshuffle cabinet is done 5 or 12 April 2023.
“Reshuffle just wait,” Jokowi said after a meeting with the five general chairmen of political parties at the PAN DPP Office, Jakarta, Sunday (2/4).
Jokowi denied the meeting with the five general chairmen of the party discussed reshuffle cabinet. He is still keeping the matter of the cabinet reshuffle a secret.
He explained that the meeting with the general chairmen of the party was just a friendly visit. They discussed the government’s work plans for the future.
“In order to discuss matters relating to the commitment of togetherness and also the sustainability of future development. The direction is in that direction,” he said.
Separately, the general chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, said that there would be an inauguration of the minister of youth and sports (Menpora). However, he admitted that he did not know the schedule of the inauguration.
“The Menpora said he would be inaugurated soon,” said Airlangga.
Previously, Jokowi said he would appoint the new Menpora to replace Zainudin Amali next week. He also plans to inaugurate a new BNPT head next week. Until now, there has been no official schedule for the inauguration of ministers or reshuffle cabinet.

Rommy Reveals Hasto Has Invited PPP to Join the PDIP Coalition in the 2024 Presidential Election
Jakarta –
Chairman of the PPP Advisory Council M Romahurmuziy or Rommy said PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto have invited the PPP to form a coalition. He said Hasto had met him.
“Yesterday Mas Hasto met with me, he repeated his invitation to PPP to join and form a coalition with PDIP,” Rommy said in the program ‘Adu Perspectives: Dilemmas of Coalitions, Election Fate and Jokowi’s Substitute’ which was broadcast detikcomWednesday (8/3/2023).
Rommy admits that he has not only been invited to form a coalition with PDIP once. He said PDIP and PPP had a long history of togetherness.
“Yes, he invited and it’s not the first time, because when the chairman (PPP) Mr. Suharso, Plt, Mr. Suharso was also invited. And I also happened to accompany Mr. Suharso too and the narrative that Mas Hasto built was always clear, that this was a mandate from Mbah Maimun we have long experience, because PPP was born by NU, PNI has always been with NU, PDIP also has a history with PPP Mega-Hamzah, and now in Central Java Ganjar-Yasin, even that is Mbah Maimun’s son, so the party segments don’t intersect. complement each other,” said Rommy.
“People may not like PDIP, but its representatives, so let the association be religiosity because this nation was built on 2 pillars, nationalism and religiosity,” he added.
According to him, there is nothing wrong if PPP joins PDIP. However, currently PPP is still weighing it because PDIP has not yet confirmed who its presidential candidate will be and PPP is already in the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB).
“In my opinion, in this context it is not counterproductive if the coalition is with the PDIP, because history has existed for so long. Even by Mbah Maimun’s own son, so if today we join in accepting the PDIP’s invitation, of course we will first discuss this with KIB or not, because we are still on KIB. Second, who is your presidential candidate, if it’s Ganjar presidential candidate, is KIB okay or not? Mr. Zul (Zulkifli Hasan) is definitely okay, Mr. Airlangga is okay or not? If it’s okay, we’re talking about who is the vice presidential candidate, because we don’t know whether Ganjar really wasn’t nominated by the PDIP ,” Rommy said.

Called Jokowi on the list of presidential and vice presidential candidates, Erick Thohir leverages PT 20%
Jakarta –
President Jokowi Widodo (Jokowi) mentioned the names of the presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 Presidential Election during his remarks at PPP’s 50th Anniversary (Harlah). Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohirwho is also called Jokowi’s greeting pinned to many figures.
“Yesterday Pak Jokowi said that the presidential and vice presidential candidates were Pak Prabowo there, then the cawapres was Pak Sandi, don’t forget that there was Pak AHY earlier,” said Erick at Graha PENA 98, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday (19/2/ 2023).
Erick Thohir said Jokowi’s greeting indicated that the head of state saw these names as good figures. He considered that Jokowi could judge these figures as good figures.
“And it was also mentioned that there were Pak Mahfud and I, so there were a lot of them. Of course what he saw might be good figures. But of course what good figures mean, they also have to work well,” said Erick.
“Not only does it look good, but it doesn’t do any good, so it’s free,” he said.
Erick Thohir emphasizing that the presidential and cawapres candidates are the realm of the party while alluding to the 20% threshold rule for a presidential candidate or presidential threshold. Erick Thohir emphasized that he was focused on advancing football in Indonesia.
“In today’s context I have to continue what is called football transformation first, this is the most important. If the problem is the height from the survey results does not indicate that an individual can nominate. Because indeed what is called Indonesian politics must be 20 percent, what does that mean, party. That means Yes, all of that is of course the right of each party to nominate anyone,” he said.
