New York City residents and tourists alike can now embark on self-guided tours of iconic locations featured in various Spider-Man films. Several companies are offering resources to navigate the city’s cinematic landscape, with filming sites spanning multiple boroughs.

Locations from the 2002 film Spider-Man, starring Tobey Maguire, are particularly well-documented. Columbia University, situated on Broadway and West 116th Street in Manhattan, served as a backdrop for scenes depicting Peter Parker’s academic life. Further east, Norman Osborn’s apartment was filmed at Tudor City Place, on the border of Manhattan’s East 40th Street and 1st Avenue. The film also utilized several locations in Queens, including Locust Street and Queens Boulevard, as well as 42nd Street between Queens Boulevard and 47th Avenue.

The residential areas surrounding Peter Parker’s family were also featured prominently. Aunt May and Uncle Ben’s house is located at 88-39 69th Road in Flushing, New York, whereas Mary Jane’s residence is nearby at 88-37 69th Road. Additional filming took place in Brooklyn at 145 Pennsylvania Avenue and Liberty Avenue, and in Forest Hills, New York, at the intersection of Austin Street and Ascan Avenue.

Long Island City also played a role, with scenes shot at 44-04 43rd Avenue and Locust Street. Manhattan locations include 5th Avenue between East 40th and 41st Streets, and the 69th Regiment Armory at 68 Lexington Avenue between East 25th and 26th Streets. The Daily Bugle, Peter Parker’s place of employment, was filmed at 175 5th Avenue, between East 22nd and 23rd Streets.

The now-closed Moondance Diner, formerly located at 88 6th Avenue in Manhattan, was a frequent filming location and appeared in the Spider-Man universe. It operated from 1933 to 2012. Grand Street, between 6th Avenue and Thompson Street, was also utilized for filming.

More recent filming locations, such as the apartment featured as Peter Parker’s in some iterations of the franchise, are located at 187 Chrystie Street in Manhattan.
