Art House Theater Day is back, and Little Rock’s Cinema I/O — a “nomadic, non-profit microcinema” founded by Arkansas times film Series curator Omaya Jones, among others — is once again participating.

Alongside dozens of theaters across the country (mostly concentrated on the East and West coasts), Jones and company are offering multiple showings of two LBGT+ films: Sean Baker’s “Tangerine” (2015) — famously filmed exclusively with iPhones — and Céline Sciamma’s “Tomboy” (2011). It’s a nice time to revisit some of Baker’s early work, given that he just scored a Best Picture win for “Anora” at the 97th Academy Awards.

“Tangerine” screens at 7:30 p.m. on July 24,7 p.m. on July 26 and 5 p.m. on July 27; and “Tomboy” screens at 3 p.m. on July 26,3 p.m.on July 27 and 7:30 p.m. on July 30. All showings cost $6 and will show at 420 byrd St. Get tickets here.

The Arkansas Cinema Society is presenting screenings of two acclaimed LGBTQ+ films, “Tangerine” and “Tomboy,” at multiple theaters nationwide, with a significant number of showings concentrated on the East and West Coasts.

Sean Baker’s 2015 film “Tangerine,” notable for being entirely shot on iPhones, and Céline Sciamma’s 2011 drama “Tomboy” are both part of the society’s programming. This retrospective offers an possibility to revisit Baker’s earlier work, especially following his recent Best Picture win at the 97th Academy Awards for “Anora.”

“Tangerine” will be shown on July 24 at 7:30 p.m., July 26 at 7 p.m.,and July 27 at 5 p.m. “Tomboy” is scheduled for july 26 at 3 p.m.,July 27 at 3 p.m., and July 30 at 7:30 p.m. All screenings are priced at $6 and will take place at 420 Byrd St. Tickets can be purchased through Cinemaio.
