West Java, โIndonesia – November 3, 2025 – Deputyโ speaker โขof the Indonesian house โคof โRepresentatives (DPR), Dasco, hasโข urged PT Multistrada, the manufacturer of Michelin tires, to haltโ planned layoffs andโข ensure full compliance with Indonesianโค labor regulations. Dasco โmade the appeal following reports โfrom fellow workers’ unions regarding the company’s intention to implement unilateral workforce reductions (PHK).
Dasco visited the Michelin tire factory in West Java on Monday to communicate directly with company representatives,as key decision-makers wereโ unavailable. He conveyed โthe DPR’s recommendation that any layoff process must adhere to the terms ofโ existing collective labor agreements.
“But because of the โขmanagement, the โขdecision maker โขwas not present because we didn’t come either give I know,so we talked to the company representative earlier,” Dasco stated. He further requested a complete suspension of the layoff process, emphasizingโฃ the necessity ofโฃ following established employment law standards.
“There are two things, the first is that the โlayoff process of course refers to the collective work agreement, โคthen the second isโ that if the negotiations have โgone through the stage of presenting the collective work agreement, if unavoidable layoffs occur, they must also follow the applicable labor rules,” Dasco explained.
PT Multistrada representatives reportedlyโข pledged toโ relay Dasco’s concerns to the company’s owner. Dasco indicated potentialโ violations relatedโ to the planned unilateral layoffs and insisted on proper procedural adherence.
“Yes, it is preciselyโค because there are violations that we are here, so we ask that this process be stopped โฃfirst so that there are no violations. We โคmust follow the applicable procedures,” he saeid.
While company management asserted that no layoffs have yet occurred, Dasco reiterated hisโ call for a โhalt to the process until it aligns with applicable regulations. โ”According to โthe management, no one has been laid off, it is still in process, so we ask that it be stopped first and made in accordance โwith applicable regulations,” heโ added.
