Chulalongkorn Hospital Pioneers advanced Tumor Treatment in ASEAN: Radiofrequency Ablation for Nasal Tumors Offers Scarless Solution
Bangkok, Thailand – Chulalongkorn hospital, affiliated wiht the Thai Red Cross Society, has achieved a meaningful milestone in cancer treatment by successfully employing Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) to eliminate nasal tumors without the need for surgical incisions. This groundbreaking technique, marking a first in the ASEAN region, offers a minimally invasive approach to targeting and destroying cancerous growths.
The RFA procedure utilizes advanced imaging technology to precisely pinpoint the tumor’s location. A specialized needle equipped with RFA electrodes is then inserted directly into the diseased tissue. Upon activation, the electrodes generate heat energy, effectively destroying the tumor cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. This targeted approach makes RFA a valuable option for patients who may not be suitable candidates for conventional surgery, and it can also be used in conjunction with other cancer therapies like chemotherapy.
Chulalongkorn hospital plans to conduct long-term monitoring of patient outcomes to assess the efficacy of this treatment. Furthermore, the hospital aims to expand the application of RFA to other patient groups and establish itself as a leading center for disseminating knowledge and skills in this innovative technology to medical professionals across Thailand and the wider ASEAN region.
