madeleine McCann suspect christian Brueckner โeyes escape to countries with no extradition treaties
Berlin, Germany – Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in the 2007 disappearance of madeleine McCann, is reportedly considering fleeing Europe to a country โคwithout an extradition treaty, after hinting at a desire to leave Germany in a GoFundMe campaign. brueckner, who recently completed aโ sentence for the 2005 rape ofโค a 72-year-old American pensioner in Portugal, was releasedโข earlier this year and โฃhad โbeen receiving unemployment benefits. โ
A German court has ruledโ Brueckner must continue to wear an electronic ankle tag for the next five years, but the device’s functionality is limitedโข outside the Europeanโ Union. This โhas fueled speculation he โคwill seek refuge in a country โคwhere he cannot be easily extradited โto face potential charges related โto the McCann โcase.
Brueckner previouslyโฃ told a friend: “Iโ just need to get some money together. and if people want meโข to leave then theyโ make this possible by โขhelping me toโฃ thisโค end.” He โreportedly hoped โneighbors wouldโ contribute to a fundraiser to facilitate hisโค departure.
His lawyer, Philipp Marquort, suggested Suriname as a potential โdestination, stating, “If I โwere him I would leave Europe andโข look for a state which doesn’t extradite to Europe or Great Britain.”
Brueckner, โwho is fluent in English and Portuguese, is believed to be seeking a country offeringโ greater freedom from the threat of โคextradition. Countries with no extradition treaty to the UK include the united Arab Emirates, Saudi โคArabia, Cuba,โ andโ Vietnam. Similarly, the Maldives,โ Montenegro, โคIndonesia, and Morocco do not have extradition treaties with Germany,โ though this does not guarantee his ability to relocate ther.
