Norris Dominates Mexico GP, Secures Victory as Leclerc and Verstappen Complete Podium
Mexico City, October 26, 2025 - Lando Norris delivered a commanding performance at the Mexican Grand Prix, securing a decisive victory and extending his championship lead. The McLaren driver finished a remarkable 25.8 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen rounding out the podium in third.
The race unfolded with strategic pit stops and intense battles throughout the field, but Norris maintained a consistent pace, building an insurmountable lead over his rivals. Verstappen, starting further back, demonstrated his signature aggressive driving style, climbing to seventh by lap 47 and ultimately challenging Leclerc for second in the closing laps. A late Virtual Safety Car period ultimately solidified the top three positions.
Early in the race, tension flared within the Mercedes team as George Russell expressed frustration with his position behind teammate Andrea Antonelli, stating, “I’ve got much more pace than Kimi here!” antonelli was afterward instructed to allow Russell through, as Oscar Piastri closed in behind.
Verstappen steadily closed the gap on Lewis Hamilton, gaining 0.8 seconds per lap, while Hamilton reported debris had come loose from his car. Both Hamilton, Piastri, and Antonelli made second pit stops for soft tires, as did Russell and Oliver Bearman. Piastri capitalized on the strategy, overtaking Esteban Ocon for sixth place.
With nine laps remaining, Piastri moved into fifth, and Antonelli was reminded of the team agreement to swap positions with Russell, ultimately finishing sixth and seventh respectively. Norris continued to extend his lead, finishing the race unchallenged.
The final order saw bearman in fourth, followed by Piastri, Antonelli, Russell, Hamilton, Ocon, and Bortoletto completing the top ten.
