Indian-Origin Motel Manager Beheaded in Dallas, Texas; Suspect Arrested
DALLAS, TX – November 17, 2023 – Chandra Mouli “Bob” โฃNagamallaiah, an indian-origin motel manager,โ was brutally beheaded wednesdayโ morning at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas, Texas.โค Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, a co-worker with a criminal record, has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the horrific attack.
Nagamallaiah, โฃoriginally from Karnataka,โ India, wasโ the manager โof theโ Downtown Suites motel. Friends andโ family remember him as a devoted husband, loving father, and kind individual. A โfundraiser has been launched to supportโฃ his wife and 18-year-old son, covering funeralโ expenses, daily needs, and the son’s college education.Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday.
Theโ attackโข stemmed from a dispute over aโค broken washing machine. According to Dallas police, โnagamallaiah requested aโค colleague translate instructions for repair, whichโ reportedly angered Cobos-Martinez. Surveillance footage depicts Cobos-Martinezโข retrieving a machete,โ pursuingโข Nagamallaiah, and initiating a violent assault while the victim’s wife and son attempted to intervene.
Cobos-Martinez has a history of arrests in Houston for assault โand auto theft. โHe is currently held without bond in the โขDallas County Jail with an immigration detainer. The Department of Homeland Security hasโข identified him โขas a cuban national previously released after Cuba refused repatriation due to his criminal history.
A police affidavitโข details theโ gruesome nature of the crime, stating video evidenceโข shows Cobos-martinez repeatedlyโ cutting and โstabbing Nagamallaiah.The victim โinitially fledโค to the motel’s front office, but Cobos-Martinez continued the โขattack, ultimately โsevering Nagamallaiah’s head. The affidavit further alleges Cobos-Martinez removed a key card and cellphone from the victim’sโฃ pockets and continued to mutilateโฃ the body, kicking the severed โhead into the parking lot before placing it in a dumpster.
Frist responders apprehended Cobos-Martinez roughly a block from the scene. If convicted,he โfaces either life in prison without parole or the โฃdeath penalty.
