Adelaide Man Charged After $250,000 Lego โฃ& Toy โขHaul Discovered
Adelaide, Australia – A โ41-year-old man is facing theft โandโฃ unlawful โฃpossession charges afterโ police uncovered a โmassive cache of allegedly stolenโ Lego and โคtoys valued at $250,000. The discovery, made at aโข Royal Park address onโฃ Saturday, August 30, 2025, represents the largest single seizure underโฃ South Australia police’s Operationโฃ Measure, a retail theft initiative.
Police say the haulโ included approximately 2,500 individual items, with 1,700 being unopenedโข boxes โofโฃ Lego. Authorities believe the goods were stolen from multiple โฃdepartment stores across the โฃadelaide metropolitan areaโ and were โฃintended โขfor resale online.
Removing the stolenโ merchandiseโข required โฃthree truckloads, assisted by Water Operations officers, due toโ the sheer volume.
“The size of the haul is significant and indicates the depth ofโข the alleged offending we will allege has been taking place,” said Acting Assistant Commissionerโค Metropolitanโ Operations Service John De Candia.
Operation โฃMeasure โขfocuses onโข identifying and arresting repeat offenders involved โคin retail theft, and has so far resultedโ in nearly 2,500 arrests or reports as โits launch.
De Candia โคalsoโ cautioned consumers, stating, โ”this type โขofโค theft is not victimless. Those whoโค purchaseโค cheap goods from online sites are โunwittingly facilitating โthis crime โขand we would urge them to consider this.”
Theโฃ accused man is scheduled to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later this month. Police continue to work with โขthe retail sector to identifyโ theft patterns and those responsible.
