Suspect Falls Through Ceiling, Directly Into Custody โof Florida SWAT Team
Indian River County, FL – Dramatic body camera footage โreleased byโ the Indian River โCounty Sheriff’s Office on Thursday details theโ arrest of โคa suspect who inadvertently surrendered to SWAT โofficers by falling through a ceiling.
The incident began when a license plate reader identified a stolen pickup truck, according to the Sheriff’s Office. investigators subsequently steadfast that the suspect, 37-year-old Keith Rodgers, had used theโค stolen vehicle to purchase lumber at a local Home Depot.
Upon locating the โขtruck parked outside a residence, officers observed Rodgers unloading the lumber. When he noticed law enforcement, Rodgers fled inside the home and barricaded himself within, โreportedly hiding in the โattic. SWAT teams and crisis negotiators were dispatched to โthe scene.
After several hours, while โขSWAT officers were inside the residence, Rodgers fell through the ceiling, landing directlyโค into the arms of awaiting officers. The โฃreleased video captures โฃthe moment of the fall and subsequent apprehension.
Rodgers is currently facing charges including grand theft auto and resistingโ an โฃofficer without violence, asโ stated by the indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
