Dengue Fever Cases in Indonesia Surge, Exceeding 7% of Global Total
Jakarta – Indonesia is facing a meaningful rise in dengue fever cases, with 131,393 reported as of โฃOctober 30, โค2025, โaccording to โdata from theโ Ministry of โคHealth’s Early Alert โขand Response โขSystem (SKDR). This represents 7.3 percentโ of all reported dengue cases worldwide.The outbreak has also resulted โฃin 544 deaths, contributing to โ17.1 percent of global dengue-related โขfatalities.
The escalatingโ numbers are โขraising โฃserious concerns among health โฃofficials. “This is โquite large and veryโฃ concerning,” โขstated โฃMurti Utami, Acting Directorโ General of Disease control at the Ministry of Health, during a discussion forumโ on November 5, 2025. Dengue fever, a mosquito-borneโ viral infection, poses โaโ particular threat โฃto densely populated areas and requires a coordinated,โ multi-sectoral approach to combatโ it’s spread.
Analysisโฃ ofโ provincial โdata reveals West Java as โthe โคepicenter โof โคthe outbreak, accountingโ for the highest number ofโ both cases and deaths.โค East Java, bali, DKI โขJakarta, and โฃCentral Java follow as the provinces with the most reportedโฃ infections. Regarding fatalities, West Java is alsoโ the leading province, followedโค by East Java, Centralโข Java, Riau, and DKI Jakarta.โ
Utami emphasized that addressing dengue fever extends beyond healthcare,requiring improvements in environmentalโ cleanliness and strengthened collaboration โฃbetween communities and local governments in promoting preventativeโค measures. The โขMinistry of Health is working toโข implementโค strategies focused on both treatment and prevention to curb the โคongoing surge in cases.
