Jakarta – Authorities have identified 212 brands of premium and medium rice that do not comply with government standards, according to Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman. This revelation follows an examination that has led to four major rice producers being elevated to teh investigation stage for alleged violations of quality standards or adulteration.
the Minister of Agriculture stated on Wednesday,July 30th,that these 212 brands were found to be non-compliant with the established government standards for both premium and medium rice. He emphasized that law enforcement actions will be taken against those found to be selling adulterated rice,particularly within these categories.
In parallel,the National Police Chief announced that four prominent rice producers have been formally investigated. These producers are identified as PT FS, PT WPI, SY, and SR. This decision was made after the National Police Food Task Force conducted examinations of 16 large rice producers. the investigation has involved the examination of 39 witnesses and four experts,along with searches,evidence confiscation,and the cordoning off of production sites and producer warehouses.
The National Police Chief also indicated that the crackdown on rice quality violations is being conducted across multiple regions.
