Dodge Unveils future of Performance at Roadkill Nights
pontiac, MI – August 11, 2025 – Dodge showcased its upcoming Charger and Durango models at a media preview event Friday, August 8th, in pontiac, Michigan, ahead of the annual Roadkill nights event. The reveals signal a critically importent shift for the brand, emphasizing continued commitment to internal combustion engines alongside its electric vehicle strategy.
The centerpiece of the preview was the highly anticipated six-pack powered Dodge Charger, confirmed to feature a traditional V8 engine. Dodge also highlighted a “jailbroken” version of the Durango SRT Hellcat, offering increased performance capabilities. The event, held at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, allowed media representatives hands-on experience with the new Charger, including drift rides and drag racing opportunities on Woodward Avenue.
Durango receives V8 Standard Across All Trims

According to Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis, all Durango models – ranging from the base GT to the top-tier 710-horsepower Hellcat – will now come standard with a HEMI V8 engine. This marks a departure from previous Durango GT models, which were equipped with a V6 engine.The change aims to solidify the Durango’s position as a performance-focused SUV.
The “jailbreak” program for the Durango SRT Hellcat allows for customization options beyond factory settings, potentially increasing horsepower and torque.
