Car criticism
I have to confess it: the idea that this criticism comes out exactly a week after the Hyundai HB20 Focus Group was mine. When CC asked me, I told him: “It will be good that readers first think and then we“Of course, until I realized that I had to write it and there he stopped causing me grace.
Beyond that I liked the idea of โโgetting into the three volumes of the best -selling Hyundai of 2025. I had already handled the most equipda version (See criticism) and Lucas Abriata reviewed the range version for us (See note). This Hyundai HB20S is worth $ 31,200,000 since it is the full version: Platinum Safety Automatic. If you think you are very much, for almost 7 million less you get the manual comfort. Comparisons? The cheapest Fiat Cronos starts from $ 27,819,000 to $ 34,675,000 of the most expensive. For its part, the Toyota Yaris cheaper (it is not Sedan), you get it from $ 26,721,000 while the full costs $ 31,900,000. With all these numbers circling, we got on the HB20S since the complete criticism is reproduced below.

All changes with respect to hatchback are in the back. The tube maintains that high and hexagonal “cut” grill in the middle by the bumper. A line that also makes the effect of dividing front optics that are LED for the DRL part and have antinieblas.
The lateral line is new, the third volume is integrated softly, almost in “Fade” we would say if it were music. It is not the typical sedan well marked how could it be a chronos or a corolla, here we could almost say that we are closer to a fastback than of a sedan, but it is a sedan, let’s not start with rare inventions. What is true is that it is well resolved and the line in general is pleasant beyond the personal tastes of each one.

The Platinum Safety version tires are alloy in 16 inches and the tested unit came road with Michelin Primacy in 195/55 R16. The aid wheel is under the trunk floor and is temporary. The Hyundai HB20S measures 4,325mm long, 1.720mm wide and 1,470mm high. That is about 30 cm longer than the hatchback while keeping wide and height. It weighs in the order of march 1,089 kilos and the fuel tank is 50 liters.

The back maintains the light signature of his brother of two volumes despite the change of tail. The trunk offers a good loading mouth and has 475 liters of capacity, about 175 more than the hatchback.
Within

Inside there are no major modifications. It almost applies “equipment that wins is not touched.” Tres rays steering wheel coated with leather (only Platinum Safety version), and with multifunction keys. The instrument board is 100% digital, configurable and identical to that of the hatchback: 4.2 inches.

The multimedia screen is 8 inches and compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car Play and, if we look good, repeat the “cut” game with a line, leaving some buttons with direct access. Beyond that design game, these types of screens that stand out are not my aesthetically speaking preferred because, for me, they look like an Aptermarket aggregate.
Below we find the control controls with dial and practical format. We continue the tour to below where we find two USB shots, one of 12V and wireless charger for the cell phone.
In the rear seats there are no ventilation outputs but a high speed USB-C connector.
SECURITY

Both HB20S versions share six airbags, ABS brakes with electronic distribution, traction and stability controls, setback chamber, outstanding assistant in slopes, ISOFIX hooks and lateral protection bars on the doors. When we talk about Platinum Safety, elements such as emergency autonomous braking, maintenance system and lane centering, tire pressure monitoring and cross traffic alert must be added.
The Hyundai HB20 in Hatchback format was tested by Latincap in September 2023 obtaining three stars, being the least point under pedestrian protection (See video).
Motor and transmission

Under the hood nothing changes with respect to his two -volume brothers, since we find the same four cylinders of 1.6 liters of displacement with 123HP and 152nm, which also equips other models of the brand and Kia. It is coupled to a traditional six -speed automatic box (it is not CVT), with cams and sequential option in the selector. As we said when we tried hatchback, compared to its competitors in the segment with Turbo, the Hyundai is a bit more powerful, but it has less torque. In Brazil there is a 1.0 turbo version. We continue crossing our fingers so that we will see it here.
BEHAVIOR

We climbed to Hyundai HB20s, we accommodate the armchair that in the Safety Plus can also be regulated in height, we put D and we will turn around. As it happened to me with the hatchback I really like to walk in the city. It is not a luxury sedan but copy well, does not transmit vibrations and deformations of the conurbation streets and is comfortable. The 123 horses under the hood seem few or enough depends on how they are used and required, but the city was not made for speed. Interestingly we made better consumption with this sedan than with his five -door brother: we round 10 liters per 100 in the city. As we always say, the consumption in the city will depend a lot about the section you use to measure it. If you are a lot on the highway or on avenues with little transit surely better our measurement.
Parking is easy with the help of cameras and sensors, even if you have ahead. The 30cm of more with respect to their younger brother do not make a dent in the good maneuverability of HB20S. And what a beautiful thing the electric direction. Those of us who are a bit old fascinated ourselves when hydraulics began to generalize, but I always want the electric in my car.

We are going to ride a little and the HB20S makes it clear that it feels comfortable but not so much. He lacks a little more power but remember that the S in the name is of sedan not of sport. In spite of that it accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 9.7 seconds, another figure that we improve with respect to the hatchback (we had measured 10.9). The maximum speed we reached was 184 km/h.
As for consumption at 100km/h, we measure 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers and 120km/h needed 7.9 liters every 100. Continuing with river behavior the lane focused works well and is not “aggressive” as it happens with other brands and models, where you almost hit you a flying so that you do not run. The soundporration on board is fine although at 130km/h the noise could be lower. The suspensions are well seized for our routes and roads and the good profile of chosen tires helps a good march comfort, always within the segment parameters.
With respect to the box I still think the same as in the hatchback: it is calm and is well seted to respond correctly in each case and need.
CONCLUSION

I apply a phrase that I wrote when I tried the hatchback: “The Hyundai HB20 comes to settle as a reference in its segment (…) Why? For everything you take at the time of paying.“And yes, and more in the case of the Platinum Safety version. But beyond the equipment, which weighs a lot, there is the good performance of the car as a product. Good walk, consumption at all, comfortable, with good space for luggage and passengers always talking about its segment and what we pay for this HB20S.
I think Hyundai has a great product to make “ranches” in the market and in a certain way it is doing but limited by the availability of units. But, as I always say, welcome is the competition and that options are still added for the buyer to choose.
It’s time for comments to start. I hope that those who tried it in the Focus Group will leave their criticism criticism because at the end of the day it is: to exchange opinions so that each one takes out their own conclusions. Mine? Rounding while I’m going to return the Hyundai HB20s Platinum Safety even if I don’t really want to. Hi Fede Trebuq, can I say that I would like to have it from Daily? (he Debate continues here)
