Davos 2026: 5 Themes for Exponential Performance in an AI World

by Priya Shah – Business Editor February 12, 2026

More than 800 CEOs and 84 world leaders convened in Davos, Switzerland, this week for the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting, where discussions centered on a common challenge: how organizations can achieve sustained performance amidst escalating global uncertainty. The summit underscored a shift in thinking regarding artificial intelligence, with experts arguing that competitive advantage will increasingly depend on redesigning work to foster synergy between humans and machines, rather than simply adopting the latest AI tools.

The state of AI investment and potential market bubbles was a prominent topic. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, also co-chairperson of the WEF, expressed confidence in the AI space, stating he “sincerely believes” there is no bubble. “What I see is this smooth exponential line,” Fink told Bloomberg TV, adding that “hundreds of billions of dollars are needed to build this out” and that the resulting capital expenditure would “drive more global growth.” He acknowledged, however, that failures are inevitable, predicting “some huge winners and some losers” as the AI landscape matures.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei offered a nuanced perspective on public perception of AI. He noted a cyclical pattern of intense excitement followed by skepticism, observing that media narratives often swing between predictions of transformative change and warnings of an impending collapse. Despite these fluctuations, Amodei believes the underlying technology has maintained a consistent trajectory of development.

Discussions at Davos also highlighted a broader shift in focus within the AI sector, moving beyond the development of AI models themselves to considerations of infrastructure, national sovereignty, and geopolitical implications, according to reporting from Forbes. This suggests a growing awareness of the strategic importance of AI and the need for nations to secure their positions in this rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, participated in panel discussions at the summit, though specific details of his contributions were not immediately available. The WEF’s agenda this year placed significant emphasis on the intersection of AI, jobs, robotics, and surveillance, indicating a comprehensive examination of the societal and economic impacts of these technologies.

The WEF has not yet released a comprehensive report detailing all outcomes and agreements reached during the 2026 meeting, and further analysis is expected in the coming weeks.
