“KPop Demonโค Hunters” Returns to Theaters as “Black Phone 2” Tops Halloween Box Office
Los Angeles – Netflix’s animated โฃfeature โ”KPop Demon Hunters” made aโค return to 2,890 locations this weekend for a three-day engagement, following a limited two-day release in late August where it technically ranked as the No. 1 release with an estimated $19 million inโฃ earnings. Netflix, however, did not โreport grosses for the โinitial release โand is notโข expected to do so this time either.
Simultaneously occurring,โ “Black Phone 2” is leading the box office during โคthe Halloween weekend, earning $2.3โค million on Friday and projecting a third weekend gross of $7.6 million-a drop of just 41%. Theโฃ film’s North American total is forecast to reach $61 million through Sunday, slightly behind the original 2022 “Black Phone” ($62.4 millionโค through 17 days).
Paramount’s “Regretting You” โis anticipated to land in second place, with $1.2 millionโ earned on โFriday and a projected second weekend gross of $6.6 million, representing a 51% decrease โfrom its opening. The Colleen Hoover adaptationโค is expected to reach a domestic grossโข of $26 million by Sunday.
Sony and Crunchyroll’s โ”Chainsawโ Man – The Movie: reze โArc” technically held second place on Friday but is expected to experience a sharper โคdecline. The R-rated action film, whichโข opened at No. 1 last week, earned $1.3 million on Fridayโค and is projecting a $5.5 million three-day haul-a 69% drop, typical for anime releases.Its totalโ domestic gross will โsurpass $30 million through Sunday.
Expanding into 2,043 locations, Universal’s “Bugonia,” a remake of โคthe 2003โ Korean โfilm “Save the Green โขPlanet!”,โ earned $1.8 million on Friday and is projecting a โฃ$4.4 million three-day haul.The R-rated film received a “B” grade from โCinema Score.
Universal is also re-releasing โ”Back โฃto the Future” in 2,275 locationsโฃ to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, including some Imax showtimes. The reissue earned $1.5 million across โpreviews and Friday, with projections for a $3.9 million three-day.
