A snooker exhibition featuring 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty and rising Irish talent Aaron Hill drew a crowd to The Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore, County Offaly, on Thursday evening, February 19th.

The event, which showcased both seasoned professionals and local players, began with a meet-and-greet session offering fans the opportunity to photograph themselves with Doherty, Hill, and the World Championship trophy. Both Doherty and Hill subsequently autographed the trophy and photos for attendees.

Prior to the exhibition matches, event promoter Neil Madigan interviewed Doherty and Hill, facilitating a discussion about their careers and inviting questions from the audience. Doherty used the occasion to pay tribute to his friend, the recently deceased snooker player and broadcaster John Virgo, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 79. The pair also shared anecdotes about their early experiences with the sport and how it shaped their lives.

The exhibition itself featured a series of doubles games, pairing the professional players with local snooker enthusiasts. Irish radio producer and TV show host Aonghus McAnally served as the referee for the evening, adding to the event’s convivial atmosphere. Offaly hurler Adam Screeney also participated, competing in one of the doubles matches.

Throughout the evening, attendees were entertained by witty commentary from Doherty, Hill, and McAnally. A break in play featured an auction of sports memorabilia, including signed jerseys from footballers Eric Cantona, Mo Salah, and Robbie Fowler. Fans also had the chance to bid on snooker cues signed by Doherty and Hill, with winning bidders earning the opportunity to play alongside the professionals in a final exhibition doubles game.

The exhibition culminated in a best-of-three frame match between Doherty and Hill, providing a display of high-level snooker. The event concluded with a display of skill and sportsmanship, leaving a positive impression on those in attendance.
