SACRAMENTO,Calif.- increasing breezes โMonday foreshadow a cooler week and the potential for regional showers as a storm system approaches the West Coast.
Winds will become more noticeable throughout โtheโ day, โwith valley temperatures expected to โขreach โขaround 83 degrees. โขFoothill highs will be in the low 80s with lighter winds, while the โฃSierra Nevada will experience the strongest breezes, peakingโค near 70 degrees.
The strengtheningโ winds are a resultโค of a trough of low pressure moving toward โthe California coast. While the initial front is forecast to pass early Tuesday morning, โขthe low-pressure system is expected โขto stall over theโฃ state. This positioning raises the possibilityโ of post-frontal convection, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms to the region from Tuesdayโข through Thursday.
The Sierra Nevada is anticipated to receive โคthe most significant โขstormy activity, with a chance of showers extending into the foothills. Valley rain is less certain, though a stray shower โcannot be ruled out. โ
High temperatures in the valleysโ will fall into the low 80s by midweek. The system is predicted to move eastward โby Thursday, paving the way for a warmer and sunnier Friday.
