Kentucky โคMan Alleges Excessive Force โDuring Traffic โคStop, daughter Witnessed Arrest
Boyle County, KY – Aโ Garrard County man is โseekingโ legal recourse afterโข a traffic โฃstop resulted in eight charges and allegations of excessive force against a Kentucky State Police trooper. Attorney Ephraim Helton claims โฃhis client,โข Devin Langsdorf, was subjected to unnecessary brutality during the โarrest.
According to the arrest citation, Langsdorf was initially stopped for speeding, clocked at โข86 mphโค in a 55 mph zone. However, theโข situation escalated, leading to charges โincluding speeding 26โ mph or greater over the limit, reckless driving, failure to produce โขproof of insurance, failure to โคmaintain insurance, disorderly conduct (2nd degree), โขresisting arrest, operating โฃa vehicle without a registration receipt, and โendangering the welfare of a โminor.
While langsdorf admits to exceeding theโฃ speed limit, Helton vehemently denies the remaining โขseven charges. He alleges the โฃtrooper used excessive forceโข during theโฃ arrest, stating, โ”Becauseโ you’re speeding doesn’t justify being kicked repeatedly in theโ ribs, it doesn’t justify being hitโฃ in the back.”
The incident tookโฃ a especially distressing turn as Langsdorf’s three-year-old daughter was a passenger in the vehicle. Helton described theโฃ lasting traumaโ inflicted upon both father and child. “you can โhear the screams,” he said. “He can’t sleep now, he has nightmaresโ and nightโ sweats. His daughter is afraid of law enforcementโ now.”
helton is demanding accountability for the trooper’s actions andโ hopes to prevent similar incidents inโฃ the future.”If you can’tโข controlโข yourself when you’re pulling someone over just for speeding,โค then what are you going to do in a real critical โsituation?” he questioned.
Theโ case raises concerns โabout police conduct and the potential for trauma experienced by โคfamilies during trafficโ stops. Further examination is expected as Langsdorf prepares to fight the charges and seek justice.
