Violent Pro-Palestinian Protest in Boston Leadsโ to 13 โขArrests, Injuries to Four Officers
Boston, MA – October 7, 2025 – Thirteen โขindividuals where arrested Tuesday night following โa violent clash with police during a pro-Palestinian protest on theโ Boston Common and surrounding streets. Four Boston Police officers sustained injuries, including reports of broken bones, though all injuries โare considered non-life-threatening.
According to Boston Police, theโ situation escalated around 6:50 p.m. asโ protesters movedโ from the Common towards the intersectionโ of Tremont โandโ Winter streets. Police spokesman Sgt. Det. John Boyle stated that protesters then “turned on police,” โขdamaging a marked cruiser, assaulting officers, obstructing traffic, and deploying devices that released red smoke.
Eight men and five women were taken intoโฃ custody. Asโฃ of shortly before 9 p.m., those arrested had notโค yet beenโ booked, and their names, ages, and specific โcharges will be released on Wednesday, Boyle โคconfirmed. Two of the injured officers were transportedโค to local โhospitals for treatment.
Larry Calderone,president of the Boston โPolice Patrolmen’s Association,condemned the incident,stating,”Another night of violence โagainst police officers in Boston tonightโฆ Our officers were attacked,assaulted and sent to โthe hospital with injuries. Wholly despicable and totally unacceptable.” Calderone also expressed concern over โstaffing levels,โข noting officers wereโ “outnumbered and understaffed” andโค called for increasedโ police presenceโข at future events to ensure officer safety and accountability for attackers.
The protest coincided with the two-year anniversaryโข of the Hamas attack on Israel and was promoted โขby flyers urging participantsโข to “Flood Downtown for Palestine.”
City Councilor Ed Flynnโข echoed theโ condemnationโ of the โviolence, stating, “As a โcity, we can’t accept the ongoing violence โฃagainst the โฃmen โขand women of โคthe โฃBoston Police Department. This must โขstop now.” He further โasserted that thoseโค convicted of assaulting police officers should face โฃstate prison sentences.
The incident marks the second โtime in two โdaysโ that Boston police have faced violent confrontations. On Sunday, โaโข police cruiser was set ablaze and officers were assaulted during a street racing takeover in the South End, resulting in the arrest ofโฃ two men โฃfrom Rhode Island, โwith further charges anticipated.
Thoseโค arrested Tuesdayโค are expected to be โคarraigned at Boston Municipalโ Court on New Chardon Street.
