Oklahoma City Voters Approve $978 Million Bond Package, โขAcceleratingโ Infrastructure and Community Projects
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City residentsโ overwhelmingly approved a $978 millionโฃ bondโ package on Tuesday, paving the way for accelerated improvements to streets, bridges, parks, public safety facilities, and other vital cityโข infrastructure.โค The decisive victoryโ – with all 11 propositions passing by wide margins – signals strong public support for continued โคinvestment in the โcity’s future.
The bond packageโ represents the latest chapter in Oklahoma City’s decades-long commitment toโ self-investment,โค building upon โขthe success of โthe original MAPS (Metropolitan Area Projects)โ plan in 1993 and subsequent MAPSโ votes, as well as previous โbond issues. Collectively,โฃ the city has now โcommitted nearly โค$10 billion to public improvements.
“I โthink that makes usโ more competitive whenโ we’reโ looking to retain โjobs, and โit’s also toโ create jobs and to bring new industries to Oklahoma โCity or expand onโ the โฃexisting ones,” saeid City Manager Craig Bryant. “This is what a cityโ has to do.”
Mayor David Holt echoed this sentiment, stating, “I’m not sure anyone predicted that [level of support].But it’s a strong statement from our residentsโค that they want โขto continue investing in ourselves.” Holt added, “All we do โคis win,” referencing the positive โreturns theโข city has seen from โpreviousโ investments.
