world Animation Summit Announces Panels with Chris Butler, LAIKA Team, and Awards Season Short Film Showcase
LOS ANGELES, CA – The 2025 World Animation Summit is set to deliver a robust program of panels and speakers, including an exclusive look behind the scenes of LAIKA’s stop-motion features and a spotlight on emerging short film talent. The event,scheduled for 2025,will feature a discussion with paranorman and Missing Link writer-director Chris Butler alongside members of the LAIKA production team.
The summit aims to connect animation professionals, aspiring artists, and enthusiasts, fostering collaboration and innovation within the industry. This year’s event will also showcase a curated selection of awards season short films – Cardboard, Éiru, Snow Bear, Playing God, Wednesdays with grandpa, Versa, Forevergreen, and Retirement Plan – and highlight the filmmakers behind them: Malcon Pierce (versa), Damian Perea (Playing God), JP Comes (Cardboard), Nathan Engelhardt (Evergreen), Aaron Blaise (Snow bear), Giovanna Ferrari (Eiru), and Shabrayia Cleaver (Wednesday with grandfather). Brooke Keesling will moderate the short film spotlight.
Attendees can also participate in a drawing for one of three free passes to the 2025 World Animation Summit by answering a quiz question emailed to ramin@animationmagazine.net: ”In the rich musical world of KPop Demon Hunters, the HUNTR/X star’s mother Rumi was also in a pop group. What was its name?” with options: a) Sisters of the Starlight, b) Moms in the Moonlight, c) Sisters of the Sunshine, d) Twilight Twins.
