KPK Uncovers North Sumatra Road Project Corruption,five Suspects Detained

Jakarta – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has apprehended five individuals in connection with a corruption case involving road projects in North Sumatra. the suspects, who include government officials and private sector representatives, are now in custody as investigations continue.

Key Figures Implicated in Road Project Corruption

The KPK has identified five suspects with varying degrees of involvement in the alleged corruption. These individuals hail from both the government and private sectors.

• Topan Ginting: Head of the North Sumatra Province Public Works and Public housing (PUPR) Office.
• Rasuli Efendi Siregar: Head of the North Sumatra Provincial PUPR Gunung UPTD, also serving as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK).
• M Akhun Efendi Siregar: President Director of PT DNG.
• M Rayhan Dulasmi Pilang: Director of PT RN.
• Hel: PPK Kasatker PJN (National Road Implementation) Region I of North sumatra Province.

According to KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu, the private sector individuals are suspected of bribing government officials to secure road project contracts.

The KPK’s operation involved two distinct clusters: one related to alleged corruption within the North Sumatra PUPR project road construction, and another concerning projects under the North Sumatra Regional PJN (National Road Implementation) Satker.

All five suspects have been detained for an initial period of 20 days, starting june 28, 2025. They are being held at the KPK Putih Putih Branch Detention Center in South Jakarta, as stated by Asep Guntur Rahayu.

Asep explained that while the KPK could have potentially recovered a larger sum of money by allowing the corrupt practices to continue, they chose to conduct an immediate arrest. This decision was made to prevent the road projects from being carried out through fraudulent means.
