Coahuilaโ Health Officials prepare forโ October 13 Flu vaccinationโ Launch
State health authorities in Coahuilaโฃ are planning โto begin a vaccination campaign against influenza on October 13, pending the physical arrival of theโค vaccine and โขconfirmation โof allocated doses.
Aรญda Araceli Lumbreras Rocha, head of the Vaccination Programโ (Provac) โfor Health โjurisdictionโค 01, based in โคPiedras Negras, stated, “They are waiting for the arrival of โvaccines and โฃalso receiving theโฃ goalโค that will โคbe assigned.”
Lumbreras Rochaโ explained that a four-week immunization period isโ necessary for fullโ protection โขfollowing vaccination, emphasizing the importance of administering the vaccine before the onset of winter. “For all types of biological orโฃ vaccine, the immunization periodโ consists of up to fourโ weeks or more for a person โคto be totallyโข immunized with the biological; then,โค it is required that, whenโ the winter season starts, theโ vaccine is applied,” she said.
The campaign will prioritize vulnerable populations,โข including older โฃadults, infants, and individuals with comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, or chronic diseases. โVaccination will โbe offered toโฃ children under five years of age.
Health officials note that โขDecember, January, and February typically bring the lowest temperatures to the region, including Piedras Negras, increasing the risk โof influenza transmission. Lumbreras โฃRocha expressed โคhopeโค for aโค timely campaign launch, aligning with theโ established calendar.
