Prime Minister โAnthony Albanese will travel to Washington D.C. next month for a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, โaccording โขto a confirmation from the White House reported by the Australian broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
The meeting is scheduled to take place on October 20th. A Whiteโ House official verified the date.
This visit will be a dedicated trip to Washington, separate from the typical “summit season” – the periodโข at the โend ofโ the year characterized by a series of international summits and gatherings.
The announcement follows several โคmonths of inquiry regarding a potential meeting between โคthe two leaders, as no formal engagement has occurred as President Trump’s inaugurationโ in January.
Previously, a meeting โwas planned on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada in June. However, Presidentโฃ Trump curtailedโ his participation โin the G7 to return to the United States due to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
Prior to departing Australia, Prime Minister Albanese’s office indicated to journalists that aโ meeting during the current United Nationsโค General Assembly in New York was โnot anticipated, but expressed confidence that a meeting would be arranged at a โคlater date.
