Jakarta – Bank Indonesia (BI) hasโ refuted reports circulating on social media, particularly โขX, claiming the central bankโฃ sold 11 tons of gold reserves in July.
Head of BI Interaction Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso firmly stated, “We can say that Bank Indonesia does not โคsell gold as mentioned,” in a written statement released Monday (October 6, 2025).
The denial follows a post fromโ X userโข @k * lโค onโ September 3, 2025, which cited IMF data alleging โa reduction of 11 tons inโ Indonesia’s gold reserves during โขJuly. The โฃpost read, “IMF’sโข latest data shows that Bank Indonesia reduces #Gold reserves by 11 โขtons in July. This means that โคour estimates published about โthe Global Centralโข Bank’s net purchase of 10 tons in that month has now been revised to zero. We will record this revision โฃinโฃ blogs and statistics next month.”
Ramdan urged the public and media โto relyโฃ on BI’s official website for accurate details regarding foreign exchange reserves. “Please friends of โthe media canโ follow officialโ information about the development of Indonesian foreign exchangeโ reserves through โคthe Bank Indonesia website,” โhe explained.
