‘Star Search‘ Returns with Live Voting on Netflix January 13
The iconic talent competition Star Search is making a comeback, premiering on Netflix January 13th. The revival will air live on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, offering a modern twist on the format that launched the careers of numerous stars.
This reboot distinguishes itself with a live voting component, allowing viewers worldwide to participate in real-time decisions regarding the fate of aspiring comedians, musicians, dancers, and children’s acts. The return of Star Search taps into the current appetite for live entertainment and talent-based reality shows, offering a platform for undiscovered performers in a landscape dominated by established artists.
Hosted by Anthony Anderson, the new Star Search will feature a broad range of talent categories. The original series, which ran from 1983 to 1995 and was hosted by Ed mcmahon, served as a launching pad for performers including Billy Porter,Brad Garrett,Beyoncé,Britney Spears,Justin Timberlake,Kevin James,Alanis Morissette,Aaliyah, and Usher.
Netflix’s version is actually the second attempt to revive the show. A previous revival hosted by Arsenio Hall aired for four seasons between 2003 and 2004, following the success of American Idol.
“The live voting feature is a total game-changer,” Anderson told Netflix’s blog, Tudum. “Knowing that fans from all over the world can cast their votes in real time adds a whole new layer of excitement and participation to the mix. it’s like we’re all part of the show and get to be one of the judges.”
