Bethune-Cookman University Launches B-CU Global, Expanding Online Degree โคoptions
DAYTONA BEACH, โคFL โฃ- โBethune-Cookman University (B-CU) is substantially expanding access to higher education with the launch of B-CU โGlobal, a newโ online platform offering fiveโ undergraduate and seven graduateโ degree programs.โ The โขinitiative aims to reach a broader student population, including those โขwho may not โขbe โคable to attendโ traditional on-campusโฃ classes, and will even offer credit for prior life experience.
The undergraduate programs โขavailableโ through B-CU Global include psychology, criminal justice, business โขadministration, interdisciplinary studies, and national security and โglobal affairs. โGraduate offerings encompass nursing education, Christian ministry, business administration, organizational โฃleadership, exceptional โstudent education, integrated environmental science, and counseling.
According โto โขthe โB-CU website, additional online degreesโ are currently โin progress, including a Master of Arts in Teaching, a Masterโค of Education, and an Educator preparation Institute.
“this version โof B-CUโข Global is about identifying โa โขdifferent population of students,” said Vernell Bennett, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Bethune-Cookman University.
B-CU previously operated an online program โขbut discontinued it due to enrollment conflictsโ with on-campus students. Bennettโข emphasized the โuniversity’sโ commitment to a โholistic โคstudent experience, stating, “of course, we don’t want individuals โฃwho are on campus to be focused solely online. We want them to be able โto engage and โคtake advantage โof the wonderful things โขthat are going on on the campus.”
Toโค further broaden access, B-CU Global willโฃ offer credit for life experience, recognizing certifications โand โcoursework completed through programs like those often pursued by veterans. All B-CU faculty are trained to teach online and willโค beโฃ assigned to both online and in-person courses.
