Munich, Germany – In a powerful display of solidarity, approximately 1,500 people braved heavyโ rainfall on โขSunday toโข demonstrate against antisemitism in munich’s Kรถnigsplatz. The rally comes amid growing concerns โoverโ a surgeโ in hate speech and threats targeting Jewish communities in Germany, and in the context of โongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The notableโ turnoutโ drew strong reactions โfrom prominent figures. Volkerโ Beck, former Green Party member of parliament and chairman of the German-Israeli Society, โdeclared from the โpodium: “From Munich, a signal goes out: We are takingโ this country back!” Beck’s statement underscored the โฃdetermination to โreclaim Germany from โคtheโฃ rising tide of antisemitism.
The demonstrationโฃ was addressed by a diverse group of leaders including Talya Ladorโข Fresher, Israel’s Consul General; Kerstin โGriese, State Secretary in the Federal ministry โขof Labour and โSocial Affairs; Ilse Aigner, President ofโฃ the Bavarian Parliament; Bavarian Minister-President Markus Sรถder; Josef Schuster,โฃ President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany; and Ralph Friedlรคnder, President of the Swissโข Federation of Jewish Communities.
Beck specifically linked the rally to the increasing hostility towards Jewish people within Germany, and also addressed the currentโฃ situation in the Middle East, calling on โHamas to accept a 20-point peace plan โฃproposed โคby former US president Donald Trump as a means โขto end the violence.
The demonstration โserves as a clear message โthat Germany will not tolerate antisemitism and stands firmly with โits Jewish community. The event highlights theโข urgencyโค of addressing hate speech โand protectingโค Jewish life in the face of escalating tensions both โdomestically and โฃinternationally.
