Warwickshire County Cricket Club has confirmed a return to its historic ground, Edgbaston, as the home venue for all its matches from 2026, ending a six-year period playing at other locations. The decision, announced November 26, 2025, marks a meaningful homecoming for the Bears, solidifying Edgbaston’s position as a central hub for cricket in the region.
The move follows a period of strategic review by the club, during which logistical and financial considerations prompted a temporary relocation of matches. However, with infrastructure improvements completed and a renewed commitment to Edgbaston, Warwickshire will once again host all its home fixtures at the iconic venue. This impacts players, fans, and the wider Birmingham sports economy, ensuring continued investment and accessibility for the local community. The club anticipates increased attendance and revenue streams with the return, bolstering its long-term sustainability.
from 2020, Warwickshire played matches at various outgrounds, including Kidderminster, Coventry, and Leicester, due to Edgbaston undergoing major redevelopment work. These temporary arrangements allowed the club to continue playing while essential upgrades were made to the stadium’s facilities.
“We are absolutely delighted to confirm that Edgbaston will be the sole home of Warwickshire County cricket Club from 2026,” said Warwickshire CCC Chief Executive Stuart Cain. “Edgbaston is our spiritual home, and we’re excited to bring all of our cricket back to Birmingham.”
The return to Edgbaston will encompass all forms of cricket, including County Championship, One Day Cup, T20 Blast, and international matches. The club is currently working on plans to enhance the matchday experience for fans, with further details to be announced in the coming months.
