## Stolen Bass Guitar Returned to Musician Ivo Severijns After 13 Years
Rotterdam, Netherlands – Renowned bassist Ivo Severijns has recovered his stolen Fenderโข Precision bass guitar after it disappeared thirteen yearsโข ago. The instrument was taken on January 12, 2012, during the Friends โVan Amstel event at Ahoy in โฃRotterdam.
The recovery is the result of a persistent, years-long search by friend John van der Wolf.โ According to a post on instagram by Severijns, who previously played bass for โKane and Waylon, “Since then, friend John van der Wolf has continuously searched for thatโฃ bassโฆ Until lastโข week,โข endless internet did not yield anything, but then he was suddenly offered for sale.”
The retrieval involved an undercover operation by police, aโ brief โขpursuit, and ultimately,โ the recovery of the instrumentโค at the seller’s home.โ Police sent two officers to โa meeting with the seller, who then attempted to move the sale to another location,โ suspecting something was amiss. Severijns ultimately confronted theโข seller at his residence, where the bass was located, โleading to a car chase before the seller returned and was apprehended.
The seller claimed โto have possessed the guitar for โฃfive years, stating heโข acquired it “for a sound set, for what it is indeed โtrue,” according to the Rotterdam police department’s Facebook page.
Despite the recovery, the seller will not faceโ chargesโ related to the theft due to โinsufficient evidence for prosecution. He did, however, receiveโฃ citations for traffic violations.
