Organized by the Egyptian Football Association basket A media day for the Egyptian national basketball team for youth under 19 years, before the team travels to participate in the World Cup under 19 years in Hungary. The media day will be held in the Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6th of October City.
Media professionals are allowed to attend part of the training session, then hold interviews with the players and the national team’s coaching staff, led by Canadian coach Kirby Shepp.
The Egyptian national under-19 youth team will participate in the FIBA World Cup, which will be held in the Hungarian city of Debrecen, from June 24 to July 2, 2023.
The Egyptian national team was drawn in the third group with the national teams of Serbia, Japan and Brazil. The Egyptian national team will open its matches on June 24 against Serbia, then meet Japan the next day, and conclude its matches in the group stage by meeting Brazil on June 27.
The tournament system stipulates that all teams participating in the group stage qualify for the round of 16, where the first in the third group will play with the fourth in the fourth, the second in the third group with the third in the fourth, the third with the second and fourth with the first. Group D includes Argentina, South Korea, Turkey and host country Hungary.
The Egyptian U-19 youth team qualified for the World Cup after winning the African U-18 Basketball Championship, which was held in Madagascar in August 2022, by defeating the Madagascar national team in the final match 81-54.
