Founded in 1926, Metro Credit Union has โขexperienced substantial expansion under the guidance of President and CEO Robert Cashman, growing from $316 million in assets inโ 1998 to over $3.4 billion currently. This โachievement reflects not only sound financial management but also a sustained focus on member needs and community involvement.โข Theโฃ Gold Medal signifies Metro’s positionโฃ among the highest-performing credit unions nationally, impacting over 200,000 members across theโ state.
Cashman’s career โขwith Metro began in 1983,โข immediately following his graduation from Boston University’s Schoolโ of โManagement. He progressed through multiple departments, includingโค marketingโฃ and lending, before being appointed โฃexecutive Vice Presidentโ in 1995 and CEO in 1998.His leadership โขextends beyond Metro, with active participation โขin industry organizations atโ both the state and national โlevels.
Currently, Mr. Cashman serves on the Board of the Nationalโ Credit Union Foundation, where he also holds the position of โฃTreasurer.โ He is a former Board Member โฃof the Credit Union National Associationโข (CUNA),โ representing over 5,000 โคcredit unions nationwide,โ and remains a member of the New England Automated Clearinghouse Association’s (NEACH) Board. He has also contributed to the Cooperative credit Union Association and Massachusetts Credit Union League, serving on numerous committees including Legislative, Political Action, and Audit.
