Premiere in the Southwest: 98-Meter-High Wind Turbine Tower Blown Up for Construction of More Powerful Wind Turbine in Freiburg

Freiburg (dpa/lsw) – Premiere in the southwest: The 98-meter-high concrete tower of a wind turbine is to be blown up on Friday (2 p.m.) on the so-called Holzschlägermatte in Freiburg. This creates space for the construction of a higher and more powerful wind turbine, said the managing partner of the green electricity group Freiburg, Andreas Markowsky, the German Press Agency.

The Stuttgart Ministry of the Environment announced on request that no previous explosion of a wind turbine in the country was known. The rotor blades of the plant have already been dismantled, as Markowsky said.

A second, also 20-year-old wind turbine at an altitude of almost 1000 meters will remain standing for the time being in order to continue producing electricity, said Markowsky. The tower should then be blown up in the spring. There is not enough space on the Holzschlägermatte not far from the Schauinsland summit for two new large wind turbines. The previous systems each have a total height of 133 meters.

The new facility, on the other hand, will have a total height of 229 meters. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring, and 7.2 million euros will be invested. According to Markowsky, the plant will produce around ten million kilowatt hours of electricity every year. That corresponds to the annual consumption of 3,500 households. “The new system brings twice as much electricity as the two old ones together,” said the manager. The demolition cost around 200,000 euros.

The expansion of wind power in Baden-Württemberg has recently been sluggish. But it could pick up speed in the future – that’s how the Federal Wind Energy Association in Baden-Württemberg saw it in June. According to the Stuttgart Environment Ministry, ten new systems with a total output of 38 megawatts were added by the end of August. In the entire previous year there were only five systems.

The operator of the Holzschlägermatte site is the company Regiowind Freiburg – it is managed by green electricity and the energy supplier Badenova. The facility is owned by almost 500 citizens.

Traffic restrictions in the area are expected during the blasting.

The loud demolition of a wind turbine is a premiere for the southwest: the Stuttgart Ministry of the Environment announced on request that there had been no previous explosion in the country. The rotor blades of the plant have already been dismantled, as Markowsky said.

Christian Streich supports Matthias Ginter after national team snub: Freiburg Coach weighs in on Hansi Flick’s decision

Freiburg (dpa) – Coach Christian Streich from SC Freiburg feels with his defender Matthias Ginter, who is no longer nominated for the national football team, but does not blame national coach Hansi Flick. “It’s a shame for Gindes, you’re sad and angry, but it’s always about how to deal with it,” said Streich on Thursday. It had previously become known that Ginter was not in the squad for the German national team for the friendlies against Japan on September 9th and against France on September 12th.

Flick called both the player and him, reported the coach of the Baden Bundesliga club. “As a coach, you often have to make unpopular decisions,” said Streich, “but that doesn’t rule out anything for the future.”

With a good performance in the upcoming Bundesliga away game at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky), Ginter was “a bit closer to the next nomination,” said Streich. After all, “Hansi knows exactly what Gindes can do.”

At the sports club, they are very happy with the 30-year-old. “There’s no question that he’s stable,” said Streich. Ginter returned to his home club from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2022 and immediately became one of Freiburg’s top performers again.

SC Freiburg Coach Tempted by Europa League Duel with Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp

Freiburg (dpa) – Coach Christian Streich from SC Freiburg would be tempted by a possible European Cup duel with the English top club FC Liverpool and its German star coach Jürgen Klopp. “If it’s Liverpool, we won’t say no,” the 58-year-old said a day before Friday’s Europa League group stage draw in Monaco. “To play with the lads in a competitive game at Anfield would be great.”

But he also likes to travel to Scotland, explained Streich. Or to Moldova. Preferably “somewhere we haven’t been before,” said the coach of the Baden Bundesliga club. A renewed encounter with Olympiakos Piraeus does not necessarily have to be. The Freiburg team faced the Greek record champions last season in the Europa League.

Transfer Window Updates: Werder Bremen’s Fodé Ballo-Touré and Niclas Füllkrug’s Future in Question

Freiburg (dpa / lni) – Five more days, then the transfer window in the Bundesliga will finally be closed. Until then, things will remain exciting at Werder Bremen. AC Milan left-back Fodé Ballo-Touré is still an issue. Above all, the question of whether national striker Niclas Füllkrug will continue to play on the Weser or not will be a constant concern for those responsible and fans of the Green-Whites until September 1st. The unsuccessful goalscorer in the first two matchdays is still associated with a change, and a possible transfer could trigger a chain reaction at Werder.

“I think there will still be a bit of movement with us,” said coach Ole Werner. “That means we’re still in a finding phase, and that was obvious,” said the Werder coach after the bitter 0-1 (0-0) draw at SC Freiburg on Saturday. Until well into injury time, it looked as if the self-sacrificing guests in Breisgau would be able to celebrate the first point of the new season. But then Maximilian Philipp – who was still active in the Bremen jersey as a loan last season – still caused the low blow.

“We are incredibly sad and disappointed that we didn’t take anything with us today. We definitely deserved a point,” said captain Marco Friedl. “We played a good away game.”

Christian Groß saw it that way, too, who had slipped into the starting XI somewhat surprisingly for newcomer Senne Lynen. “We tried everywhere to get a foot in between and if we didn’t manage that, then Jiri was there,” said Groß about the Werder goalkeeper Pavlenka, who kept making strong saves. “It’s bitter, but it goes on.”

Werner sees it similarly. Because despite the third competitive defeat in a row, the Bremen coach emphasized the development of his team. “It was a very good performance in terms of performance, but unfortunately not in terms of the result,” said the coach. “In the end, we were missing the one action to take something with us.”

It wasn’t the first time that the North Germans acted carelessly in the closing stages. As in the 2: 3 at third division Viktoria Köln in the DFB Cup and the 0: 4 against FC Bayern Munich, Werder conceded a goal in added time. “We have to stop that,” said Groß and Friedl confirmed: “We just can’t do it. If we play well and invest a lot, then we’ll concede a goal in the damn stoppage time.”

But it is also true that Bremen have not scored their own goals in the first two games of the season. Füllkrug and Marvin Ducksch are each still waiting for their first goals. Filling krug in particular caused a stir after the cup defeat at Viktoria with his fierce criticism of the Bremen defense. The fact that he is not delivering himself and is causing unrest with his ongoing speculation about bills of exchange is explosive.

SC Freiburg Supporters Criticize Luis Rubiales and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in Kiss Scandal – Toxic Masculinity Ignites World Cup Debate

Freiburg (dpa) – The supporters of the Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg have criticized the Spanish association boss Luis Rubiales, who fell out of favor because of the kiss scandal, and board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge from FC Bayern Munich with banners. “Power relations played out perfectly again. Women win World Cup – toxic masculinity on everyone’s lips” read two banners that were temporarily held up during the duel with SV Werder Bremen (1-0) on Saturday.

Rubiales kissed Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth at the awards ceremony after Spain’s World Cup final last Sunday. The disciplinary committee of the world governing body FIFA has therefore temporarily suspended the 46-year-old and initiated disciplinary proceedings. Rubiales has now admitted a mistake, but the association boss refused to resign at the extraordinary general meeting on Friday.

Rummenigge had shown understanding for Rubiales’ behavior and said: “When you become world champion, you are emotional. And what he did there is – sorry, with all due respect – absolutely okay.” The Breisgauer fans reacted to this with: “Fist instead of kiss for Rubiales and Rummenigge – sorry, with all due respect – absolutely OK.”
