EDEN PRAIE,โ MINNESOTA – Health officialsโ in Minnesota are urging residents toโ get vaccinated against measles following the confirmation of a second โขcase in the โคstate. The announcement comes amid growing concernsโ about potential outbreaks as children โขreturn to school.
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reported the latest case, prompting renewed calls for vaccination to protect individuals and communities.
To facilitate access toโข vaccines, Hennepin County is offering free walk-in clinics throughout the first โmonth ofโ the schoolโ year.โค These clinics aim โขto increase vaccination โคrates and prevent further spread of the highly contagious virus.

Measles is a highly contagious โairborneโฃ diseaseโ that โขcanโ cause severe health complications, โincluding pneumonia,โ encephalitis (brain swelling), and even death. Symptomsโฃ typically begin with fever,โ cough, runnyโ nose, and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash that spreads over the body.
The Centers for Disease Controlโ and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all children โreceive two doses of theโ measles,mumps,and โrubella (MMR) vaccine,with theโฃ first dose administered โbetween โค12 and 15 months of age and the second dose between 4 and 6 years of age. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles โฃand protect against its potentially seriousโค consequences.
