This is why Bobby Clark’s Salzburg debut is delayed

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 25, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

FC Red Bull Salzburg pulled off a real transfer coup with the signing of Bobby Clark.

The 19-year-old Englishman, who was trained at Liverpool FC, will have to wait a while for his debut in the “Bulls” jersey.

As the “Salzburg News” report, it is not clear when Clark will make his first appearance for his new club. Among other things, he is behind on training due to a slight back injury.

Austrian bureaucracy must be overcome

In addition, the central midfielder currently lacks a work permit. Since Great Britain is no longer part of the EU and Clark is therefore a non-EU foreigner, he needs that work permit.

The 19-year-old will only be allowed to play for Salzburg after approval has been granted. It is still unclear when this will be granted.

The Lijnders team’s next match is the return leg of the Champions League playoff against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday (live ticker from 9 p.m.). The English U20 team player would not have been an issue there anyway, as he is not listed on the UEFA squad list.

Salzburg won the first leg away 2-0.

Salzburg challenged in top match at LASK before CL playoff

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 16, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

It is an important dress rehearsal for both teams. Vice-champion Red Bull Salzburg will be visiting LASK on Saturday (from 7:30 p.m. in the LIVE ticker >>>) in the highlight of the 3rd round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

The Bulls want to take their recent momentum into the play-off for a place in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev. The first leg will take place on Wednesday in Lublin (Poland). In the next two weeks, LASK will play against FCSB Bucharest for a place in the group stage of the Europa League.

After two rounds, Salzburg are the only team to lead the league with the maximum number of points. The goal difference is 8:3. In five competitive matches under new coach Pepijn Lijnders, they have not lost a single game – but have also conceded seven goals. The Bulls only kept a clean sheet in the cup opener against regional league team FC Dornbirn. In the Champions League qualifiers, they had to worry about promotion in the return match against Twente Enschede (3:3) despite an outstanding first half.

Lijnders warned about LASK: “They will make life difficult for us”

“The game at Twente was important because it showed us that we can play our football away from home in front of a large crowd and fight passionately for a result,” explained Lijnders.

This experience will probably also be needed against LASK. The Linz team recently suffered a somewhat surprising 2-1 defeat at home against Altach. Lijnders: “They will definitely want to show a reaction against us. They have a number of really good players who will certainly make life very difficult for us. We have to be prepared for that.”

Salzburg beat city rivals Blau-Weiß Linz 5-1 at home last week. In the absence of the injured Hendry Blank and Oumar Solet, who is willing to move, Samson Baidoo and Kamil Piatkowski are likely to form the central defence against LASK.

Lijnders will rotate a little in the offensive after the intensive performance in the Netherlands.

LASK defeat in Altach “maybe good”

Last season, LASK won two of four league duels with Salzburg. The Linz team had never managed that before in Salzburg’s Red Bull era (since 2005). A 1-0 away win in October was followed by a 3-1 home victory in April in the first appearance under coach Thomas Darazs. Striker Marin Ljubicic was the celebrated hero with three goals.

At the end of the season, however, the Linz team suffered a resounding 1:7 defeat in Wals-Siezenheim in May.

“We expect a very demanding game against a team that claims to be the best in Austria,” said Darazs. He did not want to overestimate his own setback against Altach in view of a strong first half. He also tried to take something positive from the defeat. “It was perhaps a good sign for the rest of the season.”

LASK transfer coup Boateng ahead of possible debut

They won’t have the 80 percent ball possession they had against Vorarlberg against the “clear favorites” from Salzburg. “The game will give us a good report on where we are in our development,” said Darazs. “We feel well prepared and are approaching this big task with confidence.”

The opponent’s approach has changed under Lijnders. “In the long term, they are a very complicated team to play against. But they are not yet as stable as they might be in a few months,” said Darazs.

In addition to his long-term injuries, he will also have to do without Valon Berisha. According to Darazs, the midfield veteran has a slight heel injury and will miss the duel with his former club.

Former DFB team defender Jerome Boateng could make his debut. “He certainly hasn’t played 90 or 45 minutes yet. If we need him, he’s ready to help us in the end,” said Darazs.

By Friday afternoon, 13,500 tickets had been sold. “We need the fans behind us. If everyone joins in, then we’re a really great club and a fortress,” said midfielder Sascha Horvath. Together, we’ll be celebrating three points at the end.

Sturm Graz visits Austria Klagenfurt

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 16, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The upcoming opponent as well as the venue will probably bring back special memories for double winner Sturm Graz.

In the last round of the previous season, the Graz team were crowned champions with a 2-0 home win against Austria Klagenfurt, and just a month before that they won the cup against Rapid in the Wörthersee Stadium. On Saturday (5:00 p.m. in the LIVE ticker>>>) Sturm will be visiting Carinthia’s capital again in the third round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

There, Christian Ilzer’s team is aiming for its second win of the season. After a failed start at Rapid, Sturm were able to breathe a sigh of relief in the Styrian derby. “The win against Hartberg was good and was also confirmation that everything is going in the right direction,” explained coach Ilzer.

Open personnel question at Sturm

Klagenfurt is now an unpleasant opponent, but the team’s strengths have not been lost despite the squad shake-up. “Nevertheless, we are travelling to the neighbouring team with the clear intention of putting in a very good performance and winning,” said Ilzer, whose team had only lost one of the twelve duels with the Carinthians in the Bundesliga.

At the beginning of the week, the Sturm coach was worried about a virus that was plaguing the team: “We will look at who is really 100 percent fit by match day and nominate the squad accordingly.”

It is also questionable whether the attackers Manprit Sarkaria and Szymon Wlodarczyk, who are willing to leave, will travel to Klagenfurt.

Klagenfurt wants to gain momentum against “the next big caliber”

(Text continues below)

Klagenfurt completely botched their league opener at WAC (1:4), but last week they had their first taste of success against Rapid (1:1) despite being outnumbered.

“It was a good feeling and very important for morale. Especially since we got the draw in a duel with an opponent who was in good form and highly rated,” said coach Peter Pacult. With champions Sturm, however, the “next big caliber” is now coming to the Wörthersee Stadium.

“We want to keep the momentum going, be at our best in terms of running and fighting. But we also need to improve our game. Just defending won’t be enough,” Pacult said.

Mahrer banned after controversial exclusion

The 64-year-old Viennese is forced to make a change in defence. Captain Thorsten Mahrer is suspended after his highly controversial red card against Rapid. Striker Sebastian Soto will miss the duel with the champions due to knee problems.

On Saturday, two long-term coaches will face off on the sidelines. Sturm head coach Ilzer (since July 2020) is the longest-serving coach in the Bundesliga, while his counterpart Pacult (since January 2021) is number two in this ranking.

The next Bundesliga reform? “Hope for quick results”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 15, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Is Austria due for the next league reform?

At least the question is in the room. An evaluation is currently underway in conjunction with the Austrian regional leagues to provide information on the extent to which Austria’s top four performance levels may change in the future.

Bundesliga board member Christian Ebenbauer confirmed this in a chat with “90 minutes“. Actually, the assessment is for the Bundesliga and 2. Liga completed, but the regional and state leagues may now cause a rethink.

“At the end of May, a working group for the third and fourth performance levels was established by the ÖFB,” Ebenbauer said. “So we had to postpone our decision and hope for quick results. “

ÖFB wakes up too late – “We lost a year”

The ÖFB first failed when it came to evaluating a change in the league system.

“Last year, before we started the evaluation, we asked the regional associations, the ÖFB, that we should also evaluate the third or fourth level of performance. That was rejected at the time.” The reason? “There’s no need for it right now.”

“Obviously it’s a bit inconvenient because we’ve lost a year, but better late than never. It’s important that we do that before the offer is announced. Television rightswhich is planned for the beginning of 2025, we know what will happen from 2026/27,” explained the Bundesliga board.

Bundesliga with 16 teams? That’s what Ebenbauer says

Ebenbauer still believes that the number of Bundesliga clubs is unlikely to change: “We assume that around 15 or 16 clubs in Austria have the potential to play in the top league. That’s with promotion and relegation, at least not enough to think about. 16-a-side league.”

“We have made progress in terms of infrastructure with great new stadiums, but if you always look at the weakest link, where it is in terms of infrastructure and economics, then the density of sport and the level of happiness in the 12-a-side area. the league is much higher than in the 16-a-side league -League.

However, further changes in other leagues cannot be ruled out. We’ll see what the assessment brings.
