Vitrรฉโข Basketball Club Stripped of Victory After Appeal โRuling Over Timing Malfunction
VITRร, FRANCE – Aurore Vitrรฉ โhas lostโ a hard-fought โvictory against Rennesโ in a controversialโ decision byโฃ the French Basketball Federation (FFB) Appeal Chamber. The club โwas penalized wiht a loss by defaultโ for the October 10th match, despite having won a replay of the game on the court.
The initial National Men’s 1 โฃ(NM1) game between Vitrรฉ and Rennes was halted after โjust 10 minutes, with Rennes leading 19-14, โdue too a timing โขfailure. Refereesโข stopped the contest due to โคthe malfunctioning equipment. while a federal โcommission initially ruled the game would be replayed – a decision contested by Rennes – the FFB Appeal Chamber overturned that decision, effectively awarding the win to Rennes.
“The administrative wins over the sporting, while the match was indeed replayed andโ won on theโค field,” stated aurore Vitrรฉ in a press โrelease. the club argues the penalty is a “double penalty,” as โtheyโค not only lose the win achieved in the replay but also โforfeit two points โin the standings while Rennes gains two.
According to vitrรฉ, the federal commission that originally โdecided onโข a replay was absent โคduring the appeal session and unable to present its reasoning. The club is now exploring allโ available avenues for โfurther appeal.
“The clock problem that caused the match to be stopped โขwas unpredictable, as โคany technical problem โwithโ sports equipment can be,” the club added. “The decision to stop the match was taken by the referees, and not by Aurore Vitrรฉ. However, it is our club that finds itself penalized.”
