The United States military โhas conducted a series of attacks on โvessels โคinโ the Pacific Ocean,โฃ resulting in 14 confirmed fatalities and ongoing effortsโค too rescue a survivor, โฃofficials confirmed Thursday. This marks the first multiple attack of 11 reported incidents by โWashington, โคwhich has yet to provide supporting evidence for its actions.
The attacks, carried out without โjudicial โฃproceedingsโ or โa declaration of warโค fromโข the US Congress, have sparked criticism from Colombia and Venezuela,as several of the โtargeted ships reportedlyโค originated from those countries.โ U.S. Southern Command initiated a search and rescue protocol after the โฃattacks, but Mexican authorities haveโฃ since assumed responsibility for coordinating the rescue of โคthe survivor, according to โa U.S. official.
Each of the first three vessels attacked carried โคfour people, while the fourth had a โcrew of โthree. Theโ U.S.โฃ operations were conducted in international waters, away from the Mexican coast, according toโข the Mexican Navy secretariat, though they didโ not comment on theโค survivor rescue operation.
The situation remains fluid โฃas โinvestigationsโค continue and diplomatic tensions rise. CNN reached out to the US Southern Command for comment but has notโ yet received a response.
