WW3 Fears Explode as NATO โขMember Romania Faces increased โRussian Drone Activity
Recent Russian drone โคattacks near theโ Ukrainian border have heightened anxieties inโค Romania, a NATOโ member, sparking concernsโข about potential โขescalation. On Monday, the Romanianโข Airโฃ Force scrambled โฃtwo โGerman Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to โคinvestigate detected air targets near the Ukrainian port city of Ismail. This was โfollowed by โคaโ more direct incident on Tuesday, when a Russian “Shahed” drone reportedly crossedโ into Romanian airspace during a โlarger Russian attack on Ukraine targeting Kyiv.
The incursion triggered a nationwide “Ro-Alert” message advising citizens to seekโฃ shelter due to theโ possibilityโฃ of falling debris. The message, issued by ISU Galaศi, urged residents to take cover in basements or civil protection shelters, or โalternatively, toโค stay indoors away from windows and โexterior walls. While authorities reported no incidents or โคcallsโ for โemergency assistance following the alert, โคthe event underscores the growing proximity โof the conflict to NATO territory.
The Romanian Defense Ministry confirmed thatโค fighter jets were deployed in response to the airspace โbreach. Ukrainianโ air Forceโ officialsโข also reported observing a Russian UAV crossing the Romanian border.
This increased activity โฃcomes as public concern about aโค potential Russian โฃattack on Romania is rising. A September poll by TVPโ World revealedโค that nearly half of 1,000 Romanian respondents believe their country could be targeted by Russia. Despite these fears, the poll also indicated strong faith inโ NATO, with 74% of respondents expressing a highโข level of trust in the โalliance.
