A revolutionary unscripted series set to redefine music collaborations is launching on Apple TV+. Titled KPOPPED, the show promises unprecedented pairings between Western music titans and chart-topping K-pop and J-pop artists.
Unprecedented Musical Fusion
The series, premiering this month, brings together global superstars for unique performance collaborations. Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion, who stated, This has never been done before
, will join K-pop legend Psy. The show is executive produced by Lionel Richie and Miky Lee, with comedian Soojeong Son serving as host.
Star-Studded Lineup Revealed
A host of popular K-pop and J-pop groups are participating, including ATEEZ, Billlie, Itzy, Kep1er, JO1, STAYC, Kiss of Life, and BLACKSWAN. They will share the stage with an impressive roster of Western artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Patti LaBelle, Mel B and Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, Vanilla Ice, Taylor Dayne, Kesha, Eve, J Balvin, Kylie Minogue, TLC, Boy George, Jess Glynne, Ava Max, and Boyz II Men.
Competition and Creative Reimagining
KPOPPED will feature a competitive element where Western artists and K-pop groups collaborate to reimagine well-known songs. These genre-bending partners will have limited rehearsal time to deliver electrifying performances in front of a live audience in Seoul. The audience’s vote will determine the standout “K-popped” performance of the night, with K-pop idols concluding each episode with their own performance.
The production boasts an extensive executive producing team, including Moira Ross, Megan Thee Stallion, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong. Ki-woong Kim is producing for CJ ENM, with Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, and David Tibballs executive producing for Eureka Productions.
The global reach of K-pop continues to expand, with figures like the song “Dynamite” by BTS breaking streaming records, garnering over 1.4 billion streams on Spotify alone (Statista, 2024). KPOPPED aims to further bridge cultural divides through the universal language of music.
