French Singer Alain Souchon Predicts Exodus to Switzerland if Far-Right Wins Presidency
PARIS โ- Veteran french โsinger-songwriter Alain Souchonโ dismissed the possibility โof a National Rallyโข (RN) victory in the 2027 presidential election, stating he doesn’t believe “the French โขare stupid enoughโ to elect someone from the ‘National Front’โฃ to lead,” during an appearance on RTL Fridayโค while promoting his new album, “Studioโค Saint-Germain.”
Souchon, reflecting on the RN’s growing influence in French politics, expressed confidence in the country’s ability to resist a radical shift. However, heโ warned that a far-right presidency woudl trigger a “profound democratic shock,” going so far as to suggest it could incite “a revolution.”
“We will never be in a country led by theโค RN,” Souchon asserted. He then revealedโค hisโ personal โcontingency plan should theโข improbable occur: โค”We would go to Switzerland.”
The artist’s comments โขcome amid increasing โnational debate surrounding the RN and its leader, Marine Le Pen, asโ they continue to gain traction in opinion polls. Souchon ultimately voiced his belief in the French people’s capacity toโฃ defend their values and reject extremistโ politicalโฃ ideologies.
