HOUSTON (AP) – No. 1 โHouston has overtaken purdueโข for teh top spot inโข the latest Associated Press โคTop 25 men’s college basketball โขpoll, releasedโ Monday.The Cougars received 28 of 63 first-place โvotes, while Purdueโฃ garnered 23. This marks Houston’s โfirstโฃ time at โNo. 1โฃ this season and the program’s second โขtimeโ ever reachingโค the pinnacle of โthe AP poll.
The shift atโฃ the top comes after Purdue suffered a loss to Wisconsin, while โฃHouston โcontinued its undefeated start. โThe poll reflects the โคearly-season volatility in college basketball, โคwith several teams experiencing meaningfulโ movement. Florida dropped seven places to No. 10, St. John’s fell eight spots โto No. 13, and Kansas slidโ sixโค positions toโ No.25.
Theโ Southeastern Conference,Big Ten,and Big 12 each boast six ranked teams,collectively representing 72% of the poll. The ACC and Big East each have three teams โranked, and theโข West Coast Conference is representedโค by No. 19 Gonzaga. Both the Big โฃ12 and SEC have three teams in the top 10.
Elsewhere in โคtheโ rankings, โขArkansas is at No.14. Indiana, after strong early-seasonโฃ wins against Alabama A&M and Marquette, is on the โcusp of entering the poll and is being closely watched.
