TEMPE, Ariz.โค – arizona State โWomen’s Basketball is set to host the annual โขBriannโข January Classic thisโฃ weekend, welcoming North Dakota State and Texas Southern to Desert financial Arena. The classic showcases a program continuingโ to build momentum through strong individual performances โand dominant โฃteam statistics early โขin the season.
The โฃSun Devils have seen โขstandout play from several athletes, including guard Jaddah Harper andโ forward Eboni Walker, who combined โfor three double-digit assist games this season. Walker’s 11 assists against San Diego were the most by a Sun Devil in a single game since Reili Richardsonโค recorded 11 at Colorado State on โฃDecember 9, 2018.Additionally, forward Kayla Elliott’s career-high 16 rebounds at Santa Clara (Novemberโฃ 16) are tied for the most in a game by a player โin the Big 12 this season, and her seven steals in the season openerโ versus Coppin State (November 3)โค lead the conference.
Beyond individual โachievements, ASU’s bench has provenโ impactful, wiht Williams (18 points vs.โ Little Rock), Poa (14 points vs.Santa โขClara), and โLoVett (13 points vs.Eastern Washington) โeach โฃdelivering double-figure scoring performances as reserves.
Team-wise, Arizona state currently boasts the top two rebounding games in the Big 12 – 62 rebounds against Utah Tech and 59 against Santa clara. The Sun Devils are averaging 21.2โข points off turnovers compared to their opponents’ 10.9,โ and have secured more second-chance โคpoints in all โeight games played this season (13.1-6.9). ASU’s benchโ has outscored opposing reserves in six of eight contests.
In their last five games, the Sun Devils have averaged โ22 points in the second quarter while holding opponents to just 10.6.โ They have forced 20 or more turnovers in half of their games, peaking at 33 turnoversโข forced against Coppin State. arizona State has also scored 20 or more points in a quarter 13 times this season.
