Apple unveiled its latest iPhone lineup and updated Apple Watch models at an event today, introducing the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, AirPods Pro 3, Apple Watch Series 11, and Apple Watch SE 3. The event, detailed on Apple’s event page, signals a continued focus on incremental improvements to core products alongside the introduction of a new, thinner iPhone model. The iPhone 17 Pro boasts what Apple calls its most powerful iPhone yet, featuring breakthrough battery life, a Ceramic Shield 2 display, and the A19 Pro chip. All rear cameras are 48MP, and a new Center Stage front camera is included. The iPhone 17 Air is positioned as the thinnest iPhone ever produced, also powered by the A19 Pro chip and featuring an advanced 48MP Fusion camera system and the new Center Stage front camera. Apple emphasizes the Air’s increased durability compared to previous models. The standard iPhone 17 receives upgrades including ProMotion technology with a refresh rate up to 120Hz and the Ceramic Shield 2 display, alongside an advanced 48MP Dual Fusion camera system and the Center Stage front camera. Beyond the iPhone, Apple announced the AirPods Pro 3, highlighting the world’s best in-ear Active Noise Cancellation and exceptional sound quality. New features include heart rate sensing during workouts and Live Translation for cross-language communication, alongside improved battery life offering up to 8 hours of listening time. The Apple Watch Series 11 introduces new health insights, including the ability to wake up to a sleep score and receive notifications for chronic high blood pressure. A new Workout Buddy feature is also included, and the watch offers up to 24 hours of battery life. The Apple Watch SE 3 provides essential features at a more accessible price point, with sleep tracking and richer health insights available through the Vitals app, and faster charging capabilities. The launch event follows Apple’s September 2023 introduction of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which featured a color-infused back glass and the Dynamic Island, previously exclusive to Pro models, as noted in Apple’s press release. The iPhone 15 lineup also marked a shift to USB-C connectivity. Notably, Apple’s event comes amid predictions of a major launch, as reported by Forbes, which initially anticipated the unveiling of the iPhone 17e alongside the other models. The iPhone 17e was not mentioned in the official event details. Video replay of today’s event will be available shortly, according to Apple.
