Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral โฃResources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has dismissed claims of fuelโ scarcity at private gas stations, stating teh government has alreadyโค increased import quotas for 2025.The clarificationโ comes after reports of stock shortages at stations operated by Shell,โ BP-AKR, and Vivoโข over the past week.
Bahlil explainedโฃ that the government granted a โข10% increase in fuel import quotas forโฃ private companies โin 2025,building on the 2024 allocations. “For the availabilityโค of โฃour national fuel for the private sector, we provide import โฃquotas, such as, in 2024, 1 million [units]. In 2025 we give 10% added too 1.1โ million, that is an example. So โฃthe import quota is given โ100% in 2024 plus 10%,” โheโ said at the โขPresidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday (Septemberโ 1, 2025).
“So more than the target of the previous year. So, no โคone is [experiencing] scarcity,”โค bahlil affirmed. He noted that private stations requesting additional supply could also source fuel from the state-owned Pertamina.
“but they ask for added.Butโ if I askโ for addingโ I say, thatโ our national inventory is still there. So it canโฃ be collaborated with โB-to-B with national inventory,” Bahlil stated.
The move to increase import quotas aims to ensure aโ stable fuel supply forโข both public โand private sectors amidst growing demand.
