Antonio Brown Arrested on Attempted Murder Chargeโ Following Florida Shooting
former NFLโข star Antonio โขbrown was arrested on โa charge of attemptedโค second-degree murder after being extradited from Dubai,United Arab Emirates,to face a Florida โarrest warrant.โ The charge โstems from a shooting incident following a โcelebrity boxing eventโ in Miami on May 16.
U.S. Marshals took Brown,37,intoโ custody in Dubai,accordingโฃ to Miami police spokesperson mike Vega. He was โthen transported to Essexโ County, New Jersey, adn is โcurrently being held pending extradition to Miami.
Authorities allege Brown grabbed a handgun from a security staffer after the boxing match and fired two shots at Zul-Qarnain Kwameโค Nantambu, with whom he hadโ engaged in a prior fistfight. Nantambu told investigators one bullet grazed โขhis neck.
An arrest warrant was issued on June 11, prompted by witness statements and video evidence, leadingโ to the U.S. Marshals’ extradition efforts. A conviction on the attempted second-degree murder charge carries a potential sentence of up to 15โ years in prison and aโฃ fine of up to $10,000.
Brown, who last played in the โขNFLโ for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, previously spent 12 years as an All-Pro wide receiver, primarily with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Throughout his NFL career, he recorded 928 receptions for over 12,000 yards and 83 touchdowns.
In a post onโ his X account, Brown claimed he was “jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical โharm to me,” and that he was initially โdetained by police before being released after explaining his side of the story. He stated his intention to pursue โขcharges โขagainst his alleged โฃattackers.
