RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – Ansbach High School secured itsโข fourth consecutive DODEA-Europe Division โฃIII volleyball championship on nov.8, 2025, defeating Spangdahlemโค Sentinelsโ at Ramstein High School. Teh Cougars demonstrated resilience and teamwork to claim the title, continuing a dominant runโข inโค theโ division.
The victory marks a notable achievement for Ansbach,solidifying its position as a powerhouse in โฃDODEA-Europe volleyball. The championship game showcasedโค strong performances from โขsenior duo,โข setters and โhitters, Emma Lange and Isabella Ortiz, alongside sophomore Aubrey โChaffey’s impactful blocking. This โฃwin also signals a smooth transition for the program under new โคhead coach Christaโข becherer,โค following deborah Keller-Mitchell’s departure.
Lange finished with seven kills and 10 assists, while Ortiz contributed โฃthree kills and four assists. Chaffey blocked five Spangdahlem attacks, four of which resulted in points for Ansbach. Summer Mundy led the Sentinels with seven โขkills, and senior setter Lexi Lauer totaled 14 โassists.
“Its been building over the past three years,” โขLange said ofโ her connection with Ortiz. “This year, it justโ progressed even further, being the leaders of โขthe team.”
Despite a strong start from Spangdahlem, โขAnsbach โultimately prevailed. Spangdahlem โคcoach Danielโ Williams acknowledged his team’s good start but emphasizedโ the need for sustainedโฃ effort against a team like Ansbach.
“Any time you get two goodโค competitors head-to-head, the minute you stall, the otherโ takes over.The minute you commit โerrors,the other fills the gap,” Williams said. “We played the best volleyballโค we could. It’s not the goal that โขwe wanted, but we’re โฃstillโค proud of the team, proudโ of the progress we made.”
looking ahead, Ansbach faces potential changesโ to its roster, with four seniors – Lange, Ortiz, Elizabeth Agudzi-Addo,โ and Mya Henderson – graduating, andโข another player moving out of the โขdistrict. However, Ortiz remains optimisticโฃ about theโ program’s future, highlighting โthe strength of the Ansbach volleyball community.
“We’re a volleyball community,” Ortiz said. “When โฃcoach Deb left last year, we’re such a strong community that – not that it didn’t matter – โคbut we were able to build ourselves up.”
